I have a co-worker who raves about this place. He says the food and the service are phenomenal!

It's not the reporting of the closing that is terrible it's the manner in which they convey it, it closed, restaurants of all kinds do this because like I said before the restaurant business is one the toughest to be successful in. But WOAI chooses to present stories like that all negatively because their station manager feels that will get them ratings which it doesn't yet they continue this route and now are in fourth place (they actually get beat by KABB's News at Nine now).

Paladar was one of the restaurants that was emblematic of the demographic/economic/cultural shifts taking place in SA, and its closing certainly causes one to think about how the economy will continue to impact the city's recent transformation...
|
I don't think it was but if it were it was three years ago and since then the culinary scene in SA has changed dramatically and continues to.

Does anyone know if the SA Metro has a James Coney Island? I used to like to go to the ones in the Houston area when I lived there on occasion. No, not too healthy, but a decient hot dog is good every once in a while. Anyway, just curious?

Dunno about James Coney Island.....but there is a new hot dog place on Mainland, right next to Snap Fitness. It's the guy that used to just sell hot dogs out of his cart, now he's gone big time and actually got a place. It's where the hair salon was (actually his wife is the one who cuts hair, and I don't know where she cuts now--surely not where he's serving his weinies. )

i'm not quite sure if this has been posted anywhere else (and i'm sure it has) but i just thought i'd throw in that wingstop on 151 has opened and so has freddy's frozen custards on potranco and 151. i went for wings and ice cream one night and both places were great. except the wait at ffc was super long!
i know i appeared out of nowhere... i usually just read the forum but here i am!

Has anyone eaten at Brasserie Pavil at 1604/Huebner? The menu looks good! :-) Too bad they don't serve escargot!

Are there any other Brazilian resturants in San Antonio other than the new one off 1604?

Not in San Antonio, but their website does list one in Austin. We used to go to one in Houston sometimes when we lived in Galveston, so a hot dog from there does sound good.
