Like Outback, the food is decidedly average but hard for the chef to screw up. I'm a bit surprised they expanded into steak-saturated Texas, but they should do well - if nothing else, it is clean, consistent and looks nice from the outside.
I had a forlorn hope that perhaps it was something a bit more remarkable than just another mid-range, soul-numbing chain restaurant.... how irrational of me.

actually, i think outback is higher up the food chain.

Following up on the Hungry Horse. Tried to back track here as to what the name change is but got lost (I'm a newbie here). Is it the one in Boerne? I was thinking of driving on up to the Hungry Horse for lunch but didn't want to drive that far if it's close. Thanks!

It's now the Charter House. The San Antonio Mustang Club had the following to say about moving its meetings away to another location:

The reason behind this move is due to the change at the Hungry Horse. It is now the Charter House, with menu service only and they have increase the prices on all their meals. Current range is from $9.00 to $35.00.

Smashburger @ Bandera/1604 opens on November 20th. Two more locations (Potranco/151 and Wurzbach/I-10) will open later this year.

Haha! I pulled up there on Sunday (Bandera/1604) all ready to dive into a Smash burger. Thanks for the opening date. We ended up at SA Burger @ Fred and Wurzbach. It has potential, if only they can figure out a way to inject some flavor into the burger. It's a nice, clean friendly place, with huge burgers, but they just didn't have much umph to them.
