There's a place called Two Step Restaurant and Cantina that went up in the old Ruempel/Braun homestead at Braun and 1604. It should open later this month, and looks like it might be interesting. I did a little Google'ing and found this on UrbanSpoon.com...

Quote:
Chef Steve Warner, formerly of Wildfish Seafood Grille, San Antonio and Newport Beach, CA, Eddie V's, Austin and Morton's of Chicago, San Francisco brings a casual, family friendly restaurant to the Northwest San Antonio/Helotes area. Specializing in Texas cuisine, Two Step will serve oak smoked meats, Texas favorites such as chicken fried steak, macaroni and cheese and homemade pies. The "cantina" will concentrate on world-class margaritas, an ample beer and tequila selection and a creative menu of specialty drinks.
Based on that description, it might be a decent eatery! Time will tell...

Cheers! M2

For those who live in the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City area, Hannah's Country Steakhouse out in Marion on Weil Road in the old Goerke's is closed.Took a ride out towards Marion Saturday night.Coming home,I drove past the place, and it was dark, no lights and no cars.No band listed on the marquee either,as Friday and Saturday nights they had live music. Shame, since they really fixed the old place up,but the locals aren't going to pay 22 dollars for a steak, and SA folks may go there for the novelty, and then hit Morton's or Ruth Chris instead. Same with the Tejas Steakhouse on Obest Road in Bulverde. That has a rodeo place attached, but city folk aren't going to drive out to these places everytime they want a steak.Oh they'll do it for the novelty, but not on a regular basis.Tejas had a review in either this Sunday or last Sunday's Food Section in the Express News

Went to a nice little Mexican restaurant behind the Wells Fargo Bank @ Bandera & Wurzbach called El Jalisco Lindo Grill. It sets back off the road a bit in a strip center and where it's at use to be a Chinese restaurant. It's fairly large as restaurants go and appears to be very clean. Good food.

It's in the same area as Gametown pizza. Looks like they tore down the end of the shopping center that was empty to build it.

Default Opening soon!!!

On the drive home this afternoon, saw 2 new signs...
FURR'S - along HWY 151 access road near 410 interchange
SOUPER SALAD - Culebra/1604 in a strip mall behind Sonic and that new credit union
Furr's is still under construction - slab just recently poured.
Souper Salad - sign installer working as I drove by, so couldn't get up close to look inside.
Also - CARL'S JR at Alamo Ranch is just about ready to open. The hiring sign has been up for at least 2 weeks!
