Apparantly, Sherry is the wife of the cook of the old Texan; he is still in the kitchen and the menu is exactly the same using the same recipes.
Friends of mine went yesterday and mentioned that the beef vegetable soup tasted as if it was canned soup.
I wish Sherry's Texan well!!

Latest issue of "Local Community News" newspaper says that the Blanco BBQ & Market (13259 Blanco Rd., at the intersection with Longfield St.) will open mid-June. It's in that location discussed above, near Hardberger Park, which has been the home to 6-7 restaurants in the last 15 years.

It has two co-owners. Chris Conger is the owner of The Smoke Shack, a BBQ food truck. Arthur Mayo is a chef from NY who graduated from the CIA there and has run other restaurants.

Sherry's Texan continues the excellence established in 1941. Not many changes, few, if any. The salad was perhaps one of the best I have ever had. The salad dressing is now dispensed by squeeze bottles, instead of the paper tubs. The shrimp, large, succulent and perfectly breaded. The tartar sauce, the same secret recipe from years ago. It is pricey, but I enjoyed it!

Smoke Shack is the best food truck. It resides at Nacogodoches @410 inside the loop. I expect great things.
