That's not what they said at all.

It was tongue in the cheek type of statement.

I am not a huge fan of chain restaurants overall but I don't get why it is ok to bash chain restaurants while preaching about not bashing local restaurants. To each, their own.

I just think accusing a local business owner of arson is uncalled for. Generally speaking posters on this forum tend to be much harsher on local restaurants then the larger chains. I see so many posts about San Antonio not being a real city , or that developments like Ikea will never happen. I love San Antonio and want to see local businesses to grow and prosper.

IKEA is not a local business. It's a gigantic foreign entity.

Local business is what gives a city real flavor. While not all are good, I'd still rather give the local guy a shot over the cardboard quality of a national chain.

I agree with that! Local business allows folks to start moving up the economic ladder. Working for a chain - you are wage slave for ever. I find the local places in town to be much better than the national chains.

Just due to the fire. The intention is to re-open.

Anyone remember Bob's Smokehouse on the southside? I hadn't been back there since he died years back, but remembered hearing someone (family members, perhaps?) had reopened it. Well, happened to "be in the area" around lunchtime Monday (okay, I'll confess - I made SURE I was over there come lunch.....lol

Had the brisket and sausage, with mac 'n cheese and potato salad. IMO, the mac was uninspired - won't order it again. Potato salad was pretty good....

Had the brisket and sausage.....slap my face an' call me honey!!! Gotta tell ya - that stuff was GOOD!!! The brisket - fork-cut tender, lean without being dry - an' the bark was perfect! The sausage....some of the best I can remember! Lean without being overly dry, and not greasy like you get so often. Folks, if you've never been - you owe yourself a visit!!!

The Quizno's at DeZavala has closed. Are there any left in San Antonio? There used to be one on every corner, seemed like.
Their business model must be terrible.

I think the Callaghan/410 and the O'Connor/IH35 locations are the only two left in the San Antonio area.
