There was never anyone in it. Strange, they had traffic problems but other restaurants around them survived. It's the free market.

Tried it once and it was expensive for what you got.

The San Antonio Mr Cod was nothing like the UK version I was told. I gave it a try a few times but I honestly thought Long John Silvers was better and that is not saying much. I am sad to see it go because it was the only US location for Mr Cod.

Today I saw that Old West Burgers has fully moved into the old Yacht Club/Wish location. I genuinely feel sad for that nice couple. If they aren't bankrupt in 6 months, I'll eat my hat.

I was passing by the China Garden Express at Tezel and Mainland, yesterday, when I decided to stop in and check it out. I've had dinner at other China Garden locales and thought that I could trust it.

I WAS WRONG.

I guess that's to be expected since the place is attached to Chevron gas station. The food was ultra greasy, stale tasting, and not very flavorful. The service - or lack of - is extremely lousy. I felt like I was negotiating with a used car salesperson on San Pedro, trying to purchase a 1989 Chevette. I explained to the cashier that it was my first time, but since I was purchasing for two that I would need something more than a standard plate. I recieved a good explanation and opted for the jumbo size, since it serves two. I didn't recieve the jumbo for two, I recieved the standard. I notified them of this and instead of a standard, 'sorry for the miscommunication, but let me see how I can fix this', I recieved the same kind of response I get when I tell my five year old he did something wrong. He became more consumed in being right than rectifying the situation.

Needless to say, subpar food and ungracious personnell have caused me to only visit their location for the gas.

I hope Old West Burgers does well. The other places that have been there were just awful at the execution and operation of a restaurant. Crumby food, crumby service, crumby management. Hopefully this family will take care of people and put out a good burger. If they do that, they will do well.

BJ's would be a good fit for that location.

Maybe they are going to put another Twin Peaks since they took over/gutted the old TGIFridays on Dezavala.
