Just don’t understand why so many places in this city can’t make it and have to close down. I have never seen a city with so many places close down except for SA.

The statistics tell a different story - 60% of restaurants close nationally within 3 years of opening. I have seen this occur in every city I have lived in and traveled to. San Antonio is not unique in this regard.

BoerneMan...what's the story with the Longhorn going in on 46? Seems to be taking them forever to get that thing done.

It's less a function of San Antonio as a whole and more WHERE these places open to begin with.

I see more crap open and close in and around Stone Oak. It's a veritable merry-go-round of chains, opening and closing, eventually turning into just another nail salon or dry cleaner. I've seen far less of this behavior in Southtown, King William and even into the Southside...

If I had to guess, I'd say it was consumer attitude and loyalty. When I lived in Stone Oak, there was such an overwhelming feeling of mass consumption and entitlement. I don't think that always bodes well for new businesses who are all fighting to be noticed in a packed marketplace.

SIAP. Wings Army just opened on Stone Ridge SC at the corner of Evans and 281. It's a big chain from Mexico. Lots more on the menu besides wings. (Burgers, ribs, wings, rings, salads-
and veggies.) tried it today. Husband liked the wings. We'll go back. Not a beer drinker but they had a huge selection of beer.
Kinda a sports bar feel. We did carry out.

Expectations were that it would open before year end, but I'm not sure now. The restaurant took a few extra weeks to get started after the adjacent convenience store went up and there have been weather delays too. Apparently, the unique train depot theme of the development is adding some time to the normal schedule, but it will be nice once it opens up. It will be the first Longhorn Cafe with a drive thru too.

Yes, behind Freebirds. I told them their signage was poor. They really need a sign on the side of the building too. They have done absolutely no advertising. Onion rings were delicious!!!
