Chinese restaurant coming to the Medical Center.

Quote:
Two co-founders in a well-known Chinese restaurant operation are investing in what has become one of the city’s busiest corridors.

Mike and Jennifer Hu of San Antonio-based Taipei Group have purchased a little over one acre of land at Huebner and USAA Boulevard on the city’s Northwest Side for a new restaurant.

Plans call for what Jennifer Hu describes as a “fine dining Chinese restaurant.”

Presently, Taipei Group boasts various concepts in the city — including China Latina in South Town, just south of San Antonio; Taipei Gourmet in Castle Hills and Sushihana, on the city’s North Central Side; and Taipei Restaurant in Stone Oak, in far North San Antonio.

Maybe next time they polish the floors there, they'll either put up a sign or do it in a way that doesn't make the restaurant look like it's closed forever.

It would certainly prevent my having to go to the therapist!

We recommended it to friends for HH, they went and said the door was locked. They called and the line was not connected.

I have heard that the sign has come down...sigh. Besides a slightly off the beaten path location, I have no idea how this place did not make it.

Red Mango at the Quarry Village is open now. Seems that the non-management are going through trial-by-fire training. But yeah, its a red mango. Nothing really outstanding about it.

Also, rumor (by that I mean Craigslist) has it that John Besh is planning on opening a version of his "Luke" brasserie to the Riverwalk. Maybe in Rivercenter?

Went to Barbaresco's last week (Thursday) with a friend to have cocktails and try out the appetizers. Food was not Mexican, I am not exactly sure what they were going for on the menu, maybe italian? Had a couple of appetizers - Meatballs with Buffalo Mozzarella inside and Calamari. Was INCREDIBLY disappointed. The meatballs were very "bready", too much filler - practically non-existent mozzarella. Was told by the server that the calamari was "steak cut" (think Paesanno's), it wasn't, it was premade, frozen rings. Overall, very disappointed, would not go back or recommend.

Well, you would think the cat would at least take care of the rats, just leaving the roaches to bother the customers, right?
