Does anyone know if this is the same Houlihan's chain that was in North Star Mall years ago? They had KILLER French onion soup and they also had a really nice Sunday brunch. I was so sad to see them go.

Mi Cocina better bring their A game if they expect to succeed in San Antonio. Their food is very average and I've been there many times.

Really? I think the food is pretty good but above all I really like the atmosphere of the locations I have checked out, especially for a HH or group gathering.

I would not see Mi Cocina setting up numerous locations and succeeding in SA, just one or maybe two locations in the right area.

edit - Ah, maybe I just fondly remember the Mambo Taxi's! http://wineintro.com/sangria/mambotaxi.html

according to my brother in law, the Barnicle Bills is now open but it's called something else like Laguna Madre......He said it had a small neon sign that said something about bill miller though and that the building was painted and looked the same as the old BB's. He also said that he saw people standing in line to place their orders like before. Hopefully nothing has changed since the last time except for the different name.

I noticed last week that Manola's Thai & Vietnamese Cuisine has opened next to the Goomba's Pizza location at 410 and Blanco.

Tried it and was mildly unimpressed. Then again, pretty much *anything* would be an improvement over the previous tennant at that location (Sarita's).

Also tried the Mission Cafe on Blanco - I was expecting a sit-down-with-server type restaurant, instead it was a order-at-counter-get-your-own-drinks-and-silverware type place. Eh, okay, tasted fine and was relatively low priced, this was the sort of place I'd go to grab a quick lunch rather than a leisurely meal.

Default New Taco Shop on Babcock

Hey All, I've been trying to support local restaurants instead of chains, especially with the economy. There is a new locally owned Taco Shop that opened on Babcock, just past Wurzback, on the left (if coming from 410). I think they opened sometime last week.

Anyway, it's really simple and really good, and not a bad price. I don't think a lot of people know it's there yet, so it wasn't crowded. I tried the carnitas and thought they were really excellent! Just wanted to pass it on...

I stopped in for some breakfast tacos on Saturday! They were out of potatoes, I guess having a hard time judging the amount of customers they were going to have b/c it was only their second day open. I had the chorizo and egg and it was amazing. The owner said they should have all the supply issues worked out today.... if you go for breakfast, you got to try the chorizo!
