Alamo Heights, Olmos Park, Terrell Hills would be my guess for the city? Which towns within 45 minutes or so are the most conservative? How is Castroville?

My neighbor in Stone Oak, which is still fairly conservative, moved out to Bulverde a few years ago. He told us he didn't want to pay taxes SA's liberal city council could use for their pet projects. Much like Stone Oak I'm sure Bulverde will become less conservative as transplants move in from more liberal areas. I would suspect La Verna and Floresville as well but that's just based on some family and a few friends I know in those areas.

Hondo and Castroville are pretty conservative communities but Hondo is more so. In Hondo (depending on which side of the tracks you live on)...during election year...you wouldn't dare put a democratic candidate sign in your yard or the conservatives make a big fuss about it. Trust me...I know.

My apologies elnina. I only brought up Castroville since the OP asked then threw in Hondo as well since both are within 45 mins of SA. The OP's title is misleading when compared to what the OP is asking.

Tell that to Wikipedia.

For the intent of this thread, they absolutely are. They are within 45 minutes. WTF else would you call them?

Actually it's not.

Anyways...

I used to live in Hondo. I didn't think it was that conservative, but I guess it makes since. I knew some conservatives that lived in the "barrio" as the locals call it too, so I guess it is pretty conservative.

What do you mean exactly? Did your neighbors give you a hard time for having a Democrat's sign?

Hondo, Castoville, La Vernia, Seguin, and Bulverde are all apart of the San Antonio metro. Metropolitan areas are defined by counties.

No. My family is mostly conservative, plus I lived way out in the country near Hondo so we didn't do signs or have neighbors nearby.

Although District 9 went the other way this year, council districts 9 (N. Central) and 10 (NE) have historically tended to elect conservatives. Council district 8 (NW) has elected reps who are more conservative than 1-7, but less so than 9 and 10.

District 6 (Far NW) bucked its usual pattern and elected a conservative this year.
