The problem is that we (the US) think that we can have everything, including more oil for less. Everything comes with a price, sometimes a high price. You may not be able to see environmental destruction as tangibly as you can feel the hit in your wallet (although there are many places you *can* see it quite clearly), doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

As for the pocketbook, I am quite happy to pay ~$35/month for gas.
We can have more oil for oil for less it involves drilling off our coast in colorado and Alaska but some don't want that. You living that close to downtown on a quarter acre was not where i was getting at by having a huge yard on the edge of the city. La Vernia, Boerne, Seguin, Bandera, was more like it. BTW if all two million of us lived on 1/4 of an acre imagine how huge we would be.

The oil company's are not going to let us switch to alternate fuels until they have the ability to provide it to us. They have some of the strongest lobbiest in DC. As soon as they are able to make a profit with alt. fuels the nation will have the choice.

My point was that it's a misconception that in San Antonio, you can't live "close" to the city and have some space.

Count me as one of those who don't want drilling in Alaska or Colorado. That comes at an enormous price in many ways. It's not 'for less.' I'd rather see us put our efforts into developing alternative sources of fuel AND transportation.

8 posts out of 31 have gas prices in them, and one of those is a quote from San Diego.

I saw 3.06 at the HEB at Culebra/Tezel intersection today.

I saw a couple of stations along I-10 east of (and outside) 410 at 3.04 this afternoon. In my experience, that area often has the cheapest gas in the county.

Oil prices have dropped a bit over the past couple of days, so that should be reflected at the pump as much as the increases are!

Still, the nationwide average last year at this time was $2.57/gal, and today it is $3.26/gal according to CNN this morning.

Cheers! M2

3.08 at HEB Potranco and 1604. We don't use much gas. Work from home or travel (plane).Car service to/from airport. Maybe spend $30-$40 per month now.

I don't even pay attention to gas prices. When I need it, I need it, so I have to pay for it.

It helps that my car still gets 28-30 mpg in town and I only commute (about 4 miles each way) four days a week. I fill up every three to four weeks for right around $30-$35.
