No, but thanks for the info. I know that it was east of I35 either on Walzem or just off Walzem in that area. I knew the general area. I was familiar with the KMart and the regular Galaxy.

I do know that "Grease" began showing at the North Star Mall theatres very shortly after that (probably within the week) because I saw it there several times that summer. Maybe this was a movie that they marketed to shopping mall theaters or something, at first, before it became a huge hit. (I don't know, just throwing out an idea.)

I was a kid living in Live Oak around that time period and the closest theatres (other than the 1 screen in the Taj Mahal on Randolph AFB!) we went to all of the time were the Galaxy and the one in Windsor Mall. I think Luca's Pizza was across from the theatre.

Yes, but someone else remembered at least one other in the area (the annex). Thanks.

I found the place that looked like where I remembered, or, at least the general area. It's east of Windsor off of Walzem, beyond where the Target used to be. It was a modern building for it's time so it could have been built in the 70's. But I have no idea if the building is even still there, because there are so many new shops/buildings in the area. I'm not certain it was "Grease", which I might have seen at the Windsor, but if not, then I know it was another movie from the same year, "The Magic of Lassie." (It stands to reason that a smaller production children's movie would show at a smaller cinema, while Grease went to the more popular theaters.)

Was the annex at the Galaxy open at the time Grease was released? I don't remember it being around until the mid- to late 80s... or else we just happened to never see a movie showing at the annex before that time???

See, I do not know of another theater in the area.., There was a single theater down on Broadway in AH area (saw Jaws there). The one at Randolph and the one at WPM.., that is it and I grew up in that area since the mid 70's.

How far back are you thinking?

I'm not sure. It was probably 1977-79. I've narrowed down the area to the shopping center where the Taget used to be on Walzem. So it would have been between where the Target was and the next street you meet as you go east on Walzem. Do you remember what else was there back then? I saw a building there which looked like it could have housed a small cinema (2 or 3 screens). And it looks like it was built in the 70's.

The target was built in the late 80's. The building that used to be there prior to that was a 'kramers'? restaurant/bar.., a Godfather's Pizza complex.., i grew up in the area and if there was a theater closer than Randolph at the time.., trust me, my parents would have taken me.There used to be a theater in the old North Star Mall complex as well.
