Does someone know of a movie theater that used to be in this area? Or, maybe it is still there. I saw Grease there in 1978. That must have been the first place it was shown because that was the only time I've ever been to that theater.
It's not the Galaxy (410 and Perrin Beitel). It could have been the Windsor Mall itself, but it doesn't seem like it was at the mall. |

OzzyRules:
I'm not aware of any theatre in that exact neighborhood outside of the two you mentioned. Tommy Reynolds (old tv celeb on channel 5) use to own a twin screen in Universal City. I looked up on my theatre page and I came up with World of Sports Cinema on I-10 at Dezavalla, from 1979 to 1981. The time frame would be right but the location was wrong. The Perrin Plaza Theatre is probably the one you are thinking of. It was located 4120 Naco Perrin, from 1975 to 1979 World of Sports Cinema was opened in 1979 and closed in 1981. The address was World of Sports, DeZavalla at I-10. |

No, Windcrest is off of Walzem (east of I-35). I assume it was on Walzem because that's the only major road in the area I'm thinking of.

During what time frame? If it was the 80's it would have been the Mall one.. That is the only one I remember back in that time frame.

Was it a single screen, twin screen or multi-plex?

Summer of 1978. I'm fairly certain that's when that movie came out. I can't remember the exact size of the cinema. I guess that it had at least 3 screens. Probably nothing like the multi-plexes of today.
It could have been the mall. But it really seems like it was in a building by itself, not part of a mall. It seemed like there were trees around the cinema and parking lot. |

I just looked at Melissa's site and I don't see any theatre that meets your requirements.

No one even has a clue?
I'm half convinced it was the mall. But I'm going to drive to the area and see what might look familiar. I did a check and found that there are no theaters listed in the area presently. |

If you find it let me know and I'll add it to San Antonio Theatres: Now & Then and give you full credit for finding it.

Could it have been the Galaxy Annex? It's a small separate theater away from the regular Galaxy. It was pretty close to Walzem Rd, next to the K-mart.
