I was thinking about reenlisting for Fort Sam Houston. I see NISD and NEISD are good school systems. How far is the commute to the base, and what REASONABLY priced subdivisions are around. Im a single mom so I do not want to spend more than 110,00 on a home, or nice apartment communities that are priced reasonably.

From Helotes at 'military hours' (6am), it only takes 30 minutes from the I-10/1604 interchange which is well within the NISD but it'll be challenging. There is a nice neighborhood near Babcock and Hausman Rd (near UTSA) that might fall within that price range and still be a fairly easy commute while being inside the NISD.
