Smile Family Friendly Neighborhoods?

Hello all. Need some help. My husband is currently deployed to the SA area and we are considering relocating. We have a 6 year old and 10 year old and want to be in the northside. Does anyone have recommendations for family-friendly neighborhoods, perhaps part of a planned community? We're in our 40's, want good schools and recreation facilities for the kids, plus convenient access to shopping, activities, etc. Not knowing the area at all it's hard to figure out where to start and what the pros/cons of different areas are.

Thank you for your time!

Where is he stationed?

How much are you able to spend?

Do you enjoy commuting to work?

Are you going to work as well? If so, in what industry?

When you say recreational facilities, do you mean a neighborhood swimming pool, tennis courts, etc. or something else?

Ok, you need more details, I get it

Ft. Sam/Camp Bullis is where he works
Rec facilities -- community pool, rec center, playground, parks, etc.
I anticipate commuting -- my background is corporate/legal, so I'm assuming my job would be downtown. I currently have a 90 minute round-trip commute.
I'd prefer an established community.

I think that covers it?!

Thanks for your patience!

Well, I was going to recommend my neighborhood, but I'd think with your price range, you'd probably do quite a bit better than The Five-oh.

Default Also Moving To SA

I'll jump on board here.

My family and I will be relocating to SA from Seoul Korea in June. I will be working at RAFB. We have two sons, 2yrs and 5 months. Our price range is 120-170k. We would like a SAFE community within 5 miles or so of the base. I have been looking in Converse, Schertz, Ciobolo and Universal City. We want a 4 bdr 2 bath with parking for a boat. I am a little concerned about crime from what I have see on the postings but the data doesn't seem to fit the descriptions. Please help me to figure out what it's really like!

I have spent a little time in SA and I love the area. Lots to do! I just want to find a safe community close to the base. Jet noise doesn't bother me...Gas prices do! I hope to ride my bike to work on occasion. Pretty avid rider!

I look forward to any help you can provide!
