The San Antonio Express-News building at Avenue E and Third Street stands iconic in the city's skyline and history. Built in 1929 by Herbert S. Green, the building mirrors the epic tower style of the Chicago Tribune's home. Memorable in another way, it was dedicated as the home of the San Antonio Express and San Antonio Evening News. The lobby is octagonal in shape with each arched side of Travertine Italian marble. A Lone Star of black Persian marble centers the vestibule floor.

Beautiful images.
Herbert S. Green (great-uncle) designed the city’s first free public library located on the corner of Market & Presa downtown.
I recall the elephant statutes by the entrance.

Smile Long time no post!!

Hi All.......golden oldie CD member here. Just got back on. Can't believe my account is still here....but very inactive. I see some of my old friends.....and a LOT of new ones. I'm not in SA anymore, but I'm close. Still love the history. You'll see me on the Gone but not forgotten page when I catch up to the 10,000 pages that have been posted since I've been gone!

Hi Sapphire, Sweetie Pie and Camper Girl! <3
