todd, here are some more from the Monster Move.
happened over a couple months and I recorded a movie from start to finish.
the house moved about three miles or so to the west.
I was commissioned to remove and restore the four plaster Corinthian capitals.

Wow Mud great photos and what a super thing to witness! Thanks very much for sharing. You may have posted one pic earlier not sure. Took me a while to find location. Street view shows empty lot where it was removed from. For some reason I can no longer copy/paste street view links. Satellite view being older still shows house in place. Great old house! Where (roughly at least) was it moved to if you know? Excellent video as well.

thanx for the compliment on the video.

I video documented it from the first inch it moved to the very last - three miles to the south and west.

streetview link below was probably about April 2011. 1723 N Comal.

in this view the structure is still at the back of the property
to be rolled forward then to the left for its final resting place as it sits today.

30 years ago I could probably throw a rock to the Northwest onto the roof of the Hannibal Pianta shops.

The Capitals were more likely than not produced there.

or, maybe earler in the shop of John Pianta.

No kidding about John Pianta's ...

http://goo.gl/maps/XSemo

Seems like the last area I'd expect it to be moved to. Nice history if it has Pianta's work.

Refreshing my old worn out memory is a constant undertaking. I confused Battersby's place with Pianta's... That is how my half -azzed memory works. I've seen your Pianta 509 Leal pic a few times. It's a great picture and the mementos you have are awesome.

Hey Mud, didn't Mary Sciaraffa own the monster house at one time? Or maybe one of her sons? I remember delivering goods to that house, obviously a long time ago. The entry was pretty dramatic as I recall- kinda like out of Hollywood.
