Seems like that's pretty specific to me.

Terrell Hills is closer to that than King William, so I don't think that's it.

Lennar is marketing their In-Law Suite homes NextGen - They have a model of this in Potranco Run out Potranco. I know it's not the location you are looking for but I'm sure they have similar models where you are looking.

Hi City Data Community,
Thanks for the replies. Here is some additional information requested:
We want to downsize and leave Terrell Hills because we will no longer have children in public school and therefore don’t need to stay tethered to the Alamo Heights school district.
We want less expensive housing.
We want lower maintenance (It’s called Terrible Hills for a reason)
Budget <$400K
I'd love to live in King William, Lavaca, Tobin Hill, but it's not in my budget.
Can anyone suggest any communities/developments along Hwy 281 south of 1604?
Any thoughts on Castle Hills? Or the Preserves at Castle Hills (new development)?
I'm with ya, 2000-3000 sq feet may not seem like downsizing, but we're in Texas!

Love this concept. I'll check it out. Thanks, CyVaquero.

Meritage has a new community off of NW Military just outside of Castle Hills. It's a very different vibe then what Terrell Hills provides you, but it might be worth the drive up to check it would real quick. https://www.meritagehomes.com/state/...tle-hills#gref Old Castle Hills may be good too, but the homes may have larger lots like Terrell Heights.

I'll miss Terrell Hills, but I'm only living here for the school district. The savings in housing cost is worth the move. Thanks!

After my kids finish school in the Alamo Heights District, my wife and I hope to downsize. She and I work at 1604 and 281. We love the Tobin Hill, King William area, but are looking for a LOW MAINTENANCE home. Can anyone suggest an area to live that's got a cool vibe? We considered new construction homes in Tobin Hill, King William but they're all 3 stories and my in-laws are getting to the age where they may be living with us sooner rather than later.

Here are our priorities in order:
Senior-friendly or preferably one-story
Low maintenance (relative to our Terrible Hill's shifting soil)
Near Hwy 281 or easy to commute to 281/1604
2000 - 3000 square feet

Very grateful for all input.

Don't know if you'd consider it... but there are a bunch of homes that fit exactly those requirements up here in Encino Park... two that I know of in the Encino Ridge area. They are both REALLY nice Sitterle homes, but they're old. They're from 1983, and likely would require about 30-35 grand to totally renovate. But they are VERY high-end homes... built as large two-level homes. One of the homes is 3,700 square feet and has two Master Bedrooms... (one upstairs, and one downstairs). So your in-laws could have their own master suite downstairs, and you two could have a master suite upstairs.

That house is this one....

19910 Encino Grv, San Antonio, TX 78259

And another in the neighborhood which is just dated, probably needs 20 grand to remodel and get up to "like new" condition.

19914 Encino Ridge St, San Antonio, TX 78259

Both are selling for $329,000... but to be honest, you could probably buy either one for much less. The 19910 has been on Zillow for almost a year... no one is buying it cause it's dated.

I live near by, and totally renovated my home for 40k. Lot of young people moving into this neighborhood and buying up these homes from older couples.

Anyway, I'm not a realtor, and have nothing to do with these homes. But I really like the area... so thought I'd recommend it.
