Lots to do and the Weekender in the Friday Express News is a good place to get a handle on things.

I believe the chruch you are referring to is Oak Hills...very good, progressive services with a casual dress on Sat evenings...but still not progressive enough to enjoy your dog with you...yet!

We have a dog (ok, don't TELL her she is a dog, but she is!) and I think you will find SA very dog friendly.

I'll have to leave all the "night life" stuff to the younger, hip members, but WELCOME to SA!

Well personally I love Oak Hills Church
http://www.oakhillschurchsa.org/

Pastor is Max Lucado and he’s amazing
He's written many books so you may be familiar with his name.

If you’re looking for groups they have plenty.

I found when I take my dog places I get funny looks. She a little yorkiepoo and I have yet to find a place where it’s ok to take your dog.

I know you said you didn't dig the bar/dance club scene but you should defiantly check out Chango's.
It’s a cigar club in the 26+ range.
They have some really good bands that play and if you’re into cigars they have pretty good selection.

I don't think that there are many fake people in San Antonio, so that should not be a problem for you. I don't have any club suggestions, but I'm sure that a visit to any one or two will give you a good idea of what you are dealing with.

I would like to think I'm young and hip, but I think I'm only young part. The only nightlife I really take advantage of in San Antonio is playing poker. There are quite a few places here in town that play, and it's always outgoing and friendly. I have met so many new people by playing. And it's the one time you can actually talk at a bar and hear people.

For my art fix, I do the southtown thing. I love the Blue Star complex which is where First Friday is based off. Downtown also has the more trendy bars/clubs. Personally I think it's just a bunch of fake people. I just get dragged along, because I'm a good friend.

We also have a few disc golf courses in town. They are dog friendly as well, so if you love being outdoors that's a bonus. If you're into sports, we have a few softball leagues as well. I'm into that as well. Hope this helps.

Thanks for finding that. I think I might even try going to some of the events.
