Talking New to San Antonio, what is there to do???

hello, I am building a house right now off I-10 just north of Camp bullis. I just moved here from Austin and I am trying to figure out where the night life is around here or where you can meet good fun people in the 27-35 year range. I found lifetime fitness in the Rim, that is 5 mins from where I am building, so that is nice for my exercise needs, but once I move into the home I am going to need to know where to go out at night to meet new people cause I do not know anyone in this town and I am moving here as a newly single guy.

Looking for anything but dance clubs or bars full of just fake people. I like places with outgoing and friendly people. I have heard that San Antonio is very clickish, is that true?

Things I enjoy are wakeboarding, working out and anything that I can include my American Bulldog in.

If there are posts on this already i must have missed them, sorry.

Also, how is that church that is on I-10 right at Camp Bullis? Looks big, it is a young crowd? Is the service interesting and exciting?

Well here I come San Antonio, hope this turns out to be the right decision.

Nothing.

;-)

Just kidding.... Southtown is the place to be! Art, live music, lots of 'hang out' kind of places, lots of people in that age range.

Chaka, just curious, since you live there and spend a lot of time downtown--is it dog-friendly? I always want to take my pups out, but figure I'll just get dirty looks and turned away from most places. They drool a lot, but they are harmless!! I do know I can't take them into the restaurants.

I don't have a dog, but I can't imagine it'd be a problem. I've seen lots of people with dogs wandering around ....what kind of places were you thinking of taking them?

Well, say, First Friday--do people ever take their dogs? Isn't it mostly outdoors? I've never made it down there yet, so I really don't know.

Oh yeah, definitely dogs for First Friday. There is a lot outdoors. There's also a lot indoors and certain galleries may have specific rules against dogs, but I think as long as they're not huge and on people most wouldn't care. Only issue is some places can be quite crowded and the dogs may not like it. I'd go early - 6ish, it's not crowded and still quite interesting.

hi bulldog --- welcome to SA --- i was just wondering if you were building in a subdivision or building on your own lot using a custom builder --- i am only asking because my husband and i are looking for a new home but we are not "sold" on the 2 neighborhoods we have narrowed it down to --- so we are still open to checking out more areas --- if you are building in a subdivision do you mind me asking who the builder is so i can check it out on their website? --- the area of town is what interests me the most ... thank you so much...
