We (luckily) didn't get any hail over here, but the rain was about the same quality and lots of it

Ok gang, quick update on The Granada (proposed Santikos theater @ 1604 / Potranco). You guys may already know this but. I emailed Santikos a couple of weeks ago and got this back from Candace Fisher, Communications Coordinator, Santikos Theatres:

"Thank you for your inquiry and for being a Santikos customer! The Granada construction start date is unknown at this point. We recently completed our first theatre in Houston, which took over 3 years to complete and caused a delay in the construction of the Granada. We are currently planning on expanding throughout the country and our Real Estate division is evaluating the best location for us to open our next theatre. The Granada is definitely a great option and I will pass along your comments to them."

Soooo, basically...."Sorry NW Side, no theater for you, BUT please keep spending your money with us."

I ate at El Tropiko (near Tezel on Guilbeau) this morning and the owner told me he is looking to put his 2nd location out at Potranco and 1604. This location is tiny but he says it's mostly drive-thru business, and on Potranco he's hoping for more sit-down business. Good tacos and salsa! Sorry it's not a higher end type of place but at least it's not a chain.

I'm glad I saw this. My daughter has been asking to go here, but I was iffy about it. Thanks!

Don't you mean Far West side? Sorry, I'm a stickler for correcting that.

Their tortillas were a nice change from the really thick, flour-coated kind. Thin but tasty, and very fresh. They're also not as big as other places, but I got a potato and egg and it was nicely stuffed. My only 'complaint'--I ordered iced tea, and when it came I grabbed my 2 sweet n lows, stirred them in, took a sip and WOW! I thought I heard my teeth actually crying. It was sooooooo sweet. The waitress noticed ( guess I'm a dq in the mornings ) and rushed right over and said, "Oh, all of our tea is sweet!" YA THINK??? She brought me out a fresh one before I could say, no thanks, I'll have water instead, so I went ahead and drank it. It was really good, but I couldn't help but wonder why there was a big container of sweet n lows on the table? Also, a sugar dispenser--I don't know who on this planet would need to add sugar to THAT tea.

Very nice people though, so I think they'll do well out y'all's way!
