I'm guessing the security guard that was on duty that night is probably not having a good day today... There's no way you could do something like that without making quite a bit of noise and you would also think they would've used a torch to cut it and those flames and sparks are pretty hard to hide at night. Then again the security guard could've been in on it and is probably long gone by now.

From what my neighbor was told it seems like it happened during the day. Someone came in to Ross posing as a/c maintenence and then it was poof....gone. I just find it odd. Again this is what a neighbor was told by another employee at another store. Anyone shop over there and heard? Evidently this happened at least a week or so ago. I would *think* this would have been on the local news.

God Morning- From what I have seen to set /remove those units you would need a crane. If that did happen someone's not going to get a paycheck for a loooooooong time.

Oh dear God, I hope not. My mother will crumble. She just lost Gottschalk's in her town and they are still crying over the loss. Losing Ross would send her over the edge.

I know my wife wouldn't miss that place. She worked there for a little while when we first moved here and has hated it ever since. I have noticed there is nothing on this in the news and you would think stealing a very large a/c unit off the roof of a shopping center would make news.

San Marcos Record, San Marcos, TX - AC suspect on hot seat

San Marcos — Customers visiting the Ross, Best Buy and Bed Bath and Beyond stores in San Marcos in recent days have had to negotiate around huge trucks supplying air conditioning.

That’s because condensers and other key parts of rooftop units were stolen in a crime spree authorities say stretched south to New Braunfels and San Antonio.

Cllifton Gregory Ashworth, 27, has been charged with theft under $100,000, San Marcos police said, just as other area law enforcement agencies are also drawing up warrants.

Ashworth was taken into custody at the Green Guy Recycling Center on Wednesday, SMPD Detective Byron Mobley said, as he was attempting to sell AC equipment stolen from a San Antonio Wal-Mart.
