Anyone hear about a drive by shooting on Potranco last night in front of the Backyard bar? I heard Potranco was shut down for a while. Not sure whether this was just a rumor or it was true. I couldn't find anything about it on the internet or news.

I live in the area and didn't hear anything. Did see on the news (internet) that a motorcyclist was killed further down Potranco by Sundance Ridge. I imagine that would close the road for quite a while.

I don't understand why nasty people move into these areas and destroy them... anyone have a clue? I know plenty of folks who are just trying to live out there and be happy. What is it about this city that makes evil people ruin it for everyone else?

HillCountry,
I was wondering the same. This is the first area I've lived in (in the south) where for $150-$200k is considered "bad" ....

This is why we left our $230,000 house behind. You cannot assume that all your neighbors are at your income level or stability. I saw what happened in our area as foreclosures hit and homes turn to rentals, etc. Potranco is disgusting and an eyesore. All the big plans to modernize and bring in more upscale shopping, restaurants, businesses is not happening until all the current businesses along it are bulldozed over. You have trailer parks next to brand new housing. Tacky bars, litter-filled ditches, home-made signs, and graffit-covered fireworks stands. Oh, and don't forget the weekend flea market that classes up the intersection. I will never understand the people who keep buying in The Reserve, Redbird, Bella Vista, Gordon's Grove, etc.

I wouldn't be so dramatic and call it an eyesore. And foreclosures? ....they happen in more expensive subdivisions too.
