Hey, me too!!! My daughter told me about it (why do 13 year olds know everything before their moms?!) and then a fabulous forum member clued me in as well. I like that their play list has a little more variety, but wonder how long it'll be "commercial free"?????? Can't stay that way forever.......

I agree. It's funny, I always hear the "testimonys" from the callers. The other day, one a whim, I decided to call in and leave a message. I heard my call on the air yesterday. Kinda neat.

I heard rumors until the fall ratings come out. It's owned by Univision and they are trying to take some listeners from KISS to put The Beat on top. So I really don't think the station will last long, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy it while it lasts.

Kidd Chris is the only radio talk show i listen to in the morning. He's now in Philadelphia and can be heard online at 94WYSP // Philly's Rock Station // WYSP Philadelphia - 94 WYSP Philadelphia. I listen to him every morning from 5am to 9am local time on their stream. Lisle and Hahn suck big time and I haven't heard them in years, for the exception of their promos whenever i'm actually listening to KISS. I now tune it to 97.7 as they do play better music; more up to date stuff.
If you're listening to music online, catch Kidd Chris in the morning and then listen to the music they play afterwards. It's really good stuff.

I think Lisle and Hahn just cater to an older crowd. I remember back when I was living in S. Austin and waking up early to listen to them before the sun came out and borked the signal. I never thought Kidd Chris was really funny. Rick the Stick though...he was the man back in the day. Power Morning Zoo FTW!!!
Back on topic though, I love having two choices for Rock music. Even if its short-lived I appreciate it. I wish we could have another Dance station though.

I'll totally agree with that statement. They sound really old and I gave up pretty fast.
My ipod and I will become much better friends after the move. The Adam Carolla Show is the best around.

When I first moved to SA in '96, Kiss was GREAT. They played a good mix of what was mainstream at the moment (i.e. Nirvana, STP, Bush) with older hard rock from the '70s and '80s (Motley Crue, AC/DC, Sabbath, Zeppelin), and even lesser-known (non-mainstream) musicians (i.e. Matthew Sweet, Drain STH, Corrosion of Conformity). But now...it's awful. They play the same 50 songs over and over ad nauseum, and it's very boring. When they play Megadeth or Faith No More, it's the same song from each band every single time. I mean...how many times can they play Disturbed or Godsmack or (even worse) Nickelback in a given day? But I guess that's what happens when the quality of music over the past 5-10 years has taken a major turn for the worse.
Personally...every time I'm in Austin, I have my radio tuned to 101X. I love their play list (especially when they play all the '90s non-mainstream alt-rock), and they even have a metal hour every Sunday night (and on other days as well), where they play my favorites from bands like Cannibal Corpse, Arch Enemy, Machine Head, etc.
Bottom line: Kiss is one of the worst stations I've ever heard. It went from being awesome to unlistenable in a matter of 5 years or so.
