99.5 Kiss Fm...
I was in the SA Area this week and even though I brought my Ipod along, I just had to listen to the Rock and Country stations in the areas I was traveling through...I saw my Great Aunt in Boerne...and had my radio on 99.5 which I had known about because of previous travels there...when I was beginning my trip home, I started the engine and Type O Negative's "Christian Woman" was on KISS. I don't know if I have ever heard that song on the radio...that I can remember! KISS kicks... that is a great station. Anyways, this is probably a pointless thread, but San Antone has one kick rock station! Is there an alternative station, also?

I can't stand KISS but its to each his own I guess. No there is not an alternative station. 97.7 is a new rock station although they play the exact same music kiss plays. In fact their current slogan is, "We play the same music as KISS, without the commercials"

Oh Yeah, well, I don't live in SA so...I guess just hearing songs like Pantera's "5 Minutes Alone" and Type O Negatives "Christian Woman"...it just made me think...this station plays stuff...that even "Hard Rock" stations usually don't play...I checked out 97.7...I guess that's brand new...to not be playing commercials? When I got to it, the signal was fading because I was moving northward...

KSYM (90.1 FM), the San Antonio College radio station, would be the closest to being an "alternative" station... they do have a truly eclectic college programming lineup, with lots of unique shows and lots of alternative music.

97.7 Just recently started. Good Stuff on that station. They are new so they aren't playing commericals so its nice. I got a pretty good signal all the way from SA to Buda today. I listened for a while and didn't hear the same song... it was very very nice
I love KISS but they have way to many commercials.

They kept playing this girl saying "cuatro, cuatro"; I guess a concert promotion or something...oh well...I guess we get sick of the radio in our native metropolises

It's funny, because SA'ians seem to never stop complaining about KISS. lol
Yet it remains one of San Antonio's best stations ratings wise.

a good alternative is to switch it over to AM.. my upgraded car sound system with 6 disc MP3 CD changer was a total waste of money. All I need is AM, one speaker, and the radio controls on the steering wheel
We listen to KONO at work though and I like that station. Very few commercials at night and great music from back in the days when musicians actually had talent..

I forgot about 90.1 although its pretty far out there in terms of alternative music. I did hear the flaming lips one time though.
