As stated elsewhere in this thread, Alamo Ranch is having problems filling the empty stores, and now add the ones on the other side of Culebra and financing is not easy to get. However, the bills will come due to pay for these developments and not enough renters. Same goes for Potranco that now has two newly-completed almost empty strip malls.
Also heard the second phase of The Rim is on hold for the time-being. They were supposed to put in a hotel and a bunch more shops in 2009.

Stopped by Super Target on my way back from seeing Yes Man, and Wal-Mart appeared to be on fire. I know, sooooo many people would love that.

Anyone know what happened? there was lots of smoke and there actually was a fire truck in their parking lot, but we couldn't see what happened.

I, too, thought it was Walmart! I could see the smoke as I got on 1604 at Bandera! The closer I got to Culebra, the thicker the smoke got. It looked like it was a house in Bridgewood, but the front entrance to Walmart was blocked off by cop cars. Lots of firetrucks were headed that way as I pulled into Super Target. Not sure what happened, but would sure like to know. Suppossedly it was something directly behind Walmart? Those apartments maybe?

I know someone who works at Walmart & they told me it was a grass fire behind WM. I guess there is a stretch of grassy area & a little road behind the automotive dept. that seperates it from a cement company & that's where the fire was.

FYI, The "new" Wing Stop in front of Home Depot opened yesterday. Just dropped in to pick up some wings when I noticed it was open heading to Whataburger. Manager said they are planning a grand open some time in the near future. 682-Wing(9464)

First post. Last night around 7 or so I noticed several cop cars and a fire truck in the parking lot near the gamestop / payless shoes across from wal-mart. I don't know if it had anything to do w/ the fire everyone else posted about.
