I feel like a cat with 9 lives. In 1957, my parents, grandmother, sister and I were on vacation traveling around US. We were in Calif up near lake Tahoe and a boulder nearly knocked us in the lake. My grandmother was swimming (floating) in salt lake and turned up side down, she was gagging when we righted her. We witnessed an airplane crash in Yellowstone park, we nearly went over the edge when we were driving up Pikes Peak.

I already mentioned Charles Whitman.

January 1, 1970 at about 3 am I was downtown Houston at a red light. I paused when it turned green and watched a car speeding at about 60 mph cross in front of me.

What about your close calls?

Hmmm. Interesting thread.

* I've been to every continent on earth, including both Greenland and Iceland.

* I've spent a summer in Milan, learning the ins and outs of the fashion industry doing runway modeling.

* I've flown across the Atlantic (to London), chatting with fellow-traveler President Clinton.

* I once saw President Carter fly coach.

* Last year, I got sloppy drunk with Suzanne Sommers in NYC.

* I once crashed the Vanity Fair post-Oscars party. Got to mingle with the very bad-complected Renee Zelweger. I also told Jennifer Hudson to take off a truly ugly silver lame' jacket she was wearing to show-off a really beautiful evening gown underneath.

* Got kicked out of the US Mint in Philly for sneaking a cell phone camera into the tour.

* I'm friends with comedian Kathy Griffin, who sometimes calls me at odd hours to ask recommendations about my favorite skincare products.

There are stranger happenings in the past, but it's a good start. LOL. I've had a rather weird, but memorable life, thus far

Thank you BN. That's what we're looking for. I got to be friends with actor John Schneider when he lived in SA back in the 90's. I built his first website in 1995. Very crude by todays standard.

When my daughter was two, she had bronchitis for which she was receiving medication. I had gotten a call from her daycare that her lips, soles of her feet and palms of her hand were turning blue. I rushed over to pick her up and immediately took her to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with pnuemonia. She was admitted and given treatment. However, she was not getting better, so her doctor ordered a sonogram of her chest. The doctor learned that my nena had developed a cyst on her heart and was so large that it looked as if she had two hearts side by side. They immediately took her into surgery. It turned out to be a cyst that had filled with blood from a broken blood vessel. The doctor later told me that had I not brought her in when I did, she would have died. My nena is now almost 22 years old and I thank God every day that she's alive and well.

That was a close enough call for me!

My hubby is moving us back to TX when he retires in 3 years. We are looking at New Braunfels instead of back to Burleson. I am checking out you locals - make sure there are no "crazies".
