One time in the early 80's we were stopped at a red light on Broad St. in Richmond, VA. All of a sudden we heard a terrible screech, and to our right a pickup truck was driving up a streetlight pole.

We watched in horror as it came crashing down and flipped over a couple of times. All of the cars that were there pulled over, and some people headed to the truck, while others headed to the pay phones. (For you youngsters, ask your moms what a pay phone is.)

Within minutes the cops and ambulance arrived and everyone is thinking surely the occupant(s) of the truck are dead. However, there were no occupants. Turns out, the driver was dazed and confused and standing on the sidewalk going . He didn't have a seat belt on and he flew out the window, which was amazing. He had nary a scratch on him. If he'd been belted in, I don't think he would have made it. It was a total freak accident and he wasn't even drunk--had just gotten off a double shift and was trying to head to the house, and fell asleep.

I have never forgotten that wreck! The dude was made of teflon, I swear.

It's already spring here. I just bought 4 bags of mulch, 2 rose bushes and a pot of blue bonnets.

49 Olds is on a distinguished road
Gone but not forgotten forum is hung up on TG&Y, hamburger and pizza joints. There has got to be more to life than that.

Spend my summer after high school (1961) living and working in Las Vegas. What a trip and wild time.

After college Moved to Equador and owned a nightclub and Mexican restaurant. Went fishing north of Quito at 13,000 foot level for trout that were 4in. long. Could barely breath the thin air. The clouds would come thru and it would turn nighttime. Spooky.

Went to Europe. Liked Switzerland and Germany. Too many castles. The French suck.

Took a cruise (1979) on the sister ship to the loveboat which was named the Sun Princess. Took two other ships (1981 & 82)the Song of Norway and Song of America. The largest cruise ships at the time. Have not been on a ship since.

Have had 5 car wrecks. Two major. Still alive. Went 25 miles offshore fishing for kingfish by myself and hit a huge storm. Stupid.

I was on the east side of San Antonio next to the millwork by St. Phillips college and a black guy put a 9mm to my head and took my wallet. He said it was my lucky day and I was going to live.

My backyard is only about 20 ft. by 50 ft. but I have a family of racoons (5), a family of opossum (3) 5,000 fish, 3-5 hundred dove, cardinals, bluejays, sparrows
5,000 red wiggler worms, one snapping turtle, one 4 ft. Lousiana blue crane, one 4ft. white egret, a pair of ducks and 6 squirrels.

I like the animals more than I like my idiot neighbors.

gy2020-the year 1971-we named it the Silver Slipper. Had roll and tucked entrance, front door, bar and bar chairs of white naughide. It was the longest bar in the whole country. The dance floor was only about 15 x 15 of parkay inlay. We played the latest music with the latest equipment of turntable and mixers. Upstairs was our Mexican restaurant. The only Mexican restaurant in all of Equador. We had a caped doorman and our own chauffeur. Our customers were oilfield workers from Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Louisiana and Canada. Tool pushers, seismic (doodlebuggers) and pilots for the helicopter support companies that needed their Mexican food fix. Food and drink prices were about state side prices. We opened xmas eve. About two months after we opened the country had a military coup and proceded to divide the spoils. The pressure started on the local companies like autoparts, grocery chains etc. It then spread to the foreign oil companies etc. Some packed up and left. We were across the street from the American Embassy and the communist party would hold riots. We departed.

Wow...you guys are STRANGE!!! LOL Just kidding....

--I have been on a plane that made an emergency landing with foam and all (lost hydrolics)...except for the "assume the crash position" and foam everywhere and flying over the runway about 145 times seeing all the emergency equipment as they tried to ensure our landing gear was down and locked or something, the pilot was so good you would not have KNOWN that anything was wrong.

--AS a kid, got to meet LOTS of the Astronauts, to include those that died in the Apollo I training incident (I was a kid, but had (note the word HAD) autographed pics of each Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffee). Also have met John Glenn (also long ago)

--Got to see the Beatles in Houston

--Got to meet Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix, (hanging out/working hard at getting back stage) then they both died shortly after and I was afraid to try and meet anymore of my heros back in the concert days

--Wore PURPLE moccasins (back when dayglo colors and fringe was all the rage) to one concert at the Municipal Auditorium and when it rained after the concert my feet were PURPLE for weeks! (that dye was STRONG!!!)

--Met Colin Powell back in the 90's when he was still a active duty General

--Saw a UFO in California (no drugs involved) it was far off, over the Sierra Nevada's, but I stopped driving and me and 2 policemen (who stopped to see what was going on) watched for more then 20 minutes and it was definitely NOT an aircraft of any type the way it was moving...we exchanged phone numbers, called some UFO hotline number (this was before the days of internet) and I got a call from Dr Hynek to ask about the sighting a few days later...he told me after asking questions for about 45 minutes that he had received several reports from the N California area

--I have learned to Hula

--Use to be Scuba certified and have dove at wonderfully exotic locations in the Philippine Sea, South China Sea, Pacific and East China Sea, and Caribbean

--I have been to the Blue Hole DIVE BELIZE, The Great Blue Hole, Ambergris Caye, Belize, Diving in the Caribbean

--Of all of our travel locations, we have actually considered buying property on Caulker Caye in Belize...no cars, only golf carts to get around it is so small. We LOVE to go there! Go Caye Caulker.Com - Caye Caulker, Belize

--I am STILL madly in love with my Darling Hubby....after all these years!

I met my SO back in high school 30 years ago...had a ginormous crush on him. He hardly knew I existed. After high school, he went into the Navy and I went about my life. Fast forward 27 years. I found his name on classmates.com and e-mailed him on a whim. Miracle of miracles, he remembered me. He had just retired and came to San Antonio to visit and ended up staying. That was almost 3 years ago. He's amazed that he's been around the world a couple times, but ended up where he started to find me. Turns out we're so much alike! I swear he's the male version of me! *lol*
