Still tracking the next storm for us as there is an approaching upper level low positioned over the Pacific Northwest that is expected to position itself over the Rocky Mountains. Later in the week by Wednesday and Thursday this storm system will deepen and shift eastward into the Central Plains (Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska). As this occurs, several smaller disturbances will propagate around the main central low pressure. These disturbances could affect South-Central Texas on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with showers and thunderstorms. Current rain chances appear to be around 30-50% during this period.

So should I cancel the Community yard sale that I postponed because of the good rain we got a couple of weeks ago? I will take the rain anytime.

Weather in SA this Weekend
Planning a trip to Sea World. It says 40% chance of rain, thinking of cancelling. Are we stupid? Is this a typical forecast where it says rain and ends up sunny?

Yep, pretty typical. I never change my plans based on a forecast of rain, you just never really know.
But, AnthonySA is da man, he can tell you what you want to hear. Anthony...... where are you???

When is your Community yard sale going to be?
I usually hate recommending the cancellation of events a few days in advanced because of the weather due to the way things change. Things may look absolutely perfect for a heavy rainfall event, but when the event nears the rain usually finds a good way to miss SA and hit everyone around us. I wouldn't want you to cancel the event and we get nothing, or very little like last time around.
That said, looking at the models this afternoon, it's still game on for some nice soaking rains later this week. My forecast rain chances are as follows:
Thursday: 50%
Friday: 60%
Saturday: 40%
Sunday: 20%

Based on what I see right now, the better chance of rain appears to be Thursday and Friday, and then it starts to slowly taper off this weekend. I personally wouldn't cancel a trip to Sea World this weekend. It doesn't look like the setup where we'll see continuous rains, but instead where we get a couple of squalls to move on through the area with each passing disturbance. At worst, you'll get periods of storms, but not enough to ruin an entire day at Sea World.
However, as TXtrkgrl said, you really just never know where the rain will be. I can tell you where the greatest potential for rain is... but not exactly where it will fall... especially 4 days out. Tracking weather here is much different than further north in the Plains, Great Lakes, or Northeast. There events are much less scattered and isolated in nature than ours, so there is a greater likelihood of rain with each system.
For us, the events are much more hit and miss. Keep checking the threads and the forecasts before you trip to Sea World and I will try my very best to give you the right forecast.
