no matter which style of Miata you choose, the engine is still going to be right on your lap. Not many people know this (I didn't at least), but the Miata is actually a street legal race car. The trunk lid weighs maybe 5 pounds and it loves to be driven hard. My wife always gets upset when I whip it around corners, but I love how it just goes where you point it and won't let go of the road. It's a great car, but (for me) completely impractical for anything more than a nice weekend drive or going to and from work. Anything more than that will depend on your size. My wife drove hers to Austin and back and said it wasn't bad, but I don't think I could.. then again I'm quite a bit bigger than her.
and I don't want a tornado or hail, just rain; quite a bit of it too please

Id say 5 inches is what we need. (Over the three day period)

Thanks for the review! Really appreciate it. I'm leaving in about a month for SA and am definitley having second thoughts about my black car which is almost new. I drive a mazda3 so I its all relavant to me! Even here in Illinois I've noticed I need the air to be on even if its only in the 60's with the windows closed. I can't imagine its gonna be pretty when its 100 degrees outside.......but I am not sure having a white or silver or convertible car would help.
Thanks a lot and hope I didn't change the subject too much, it seemed weather related to me!

The Slight Risk and Moderate Risk was in reference to Severe weather, not rain chances. It looks like the moderate risk will stay to our north.
However, this is the most excited I've seen our NWS office in a long time.

.DISCUSSION...
THUNDERSTORMS WILL BEGIN TO TAKE-OFF ALONG THE DRYLINE AND OVER
THE BURRO MOUNTAINS EARLY THIS EVENING AS THE UPPER LOW OVER
SOUTHERN ARIZONA PROGRESSES EAST AND ACTS TO FURTHER DESTABILIZE
THE ATMOSPHERE ACROSS WEST AND CENTRAL TEXAS. THE 20Z LAPS
ANALYSIS SHOWED MU CAPES IN THE 3000-4000 J/KG RANGE ACROSS MOST
OF OUR AREA AND LITTLE CAP REMAINING. WITH SURFACE DEWPOINT TEMPS
IN THE LOWER 70S ADVECTING NORTHWEST ACROSS OUR AREA THIS
EVENING...THE ATMOSPHERE WILL BE PRIMED FOR DEEP AND SUSTAINED
CONVECTION. THE 12Z NAM12 AND GFS SOLUTIONS HAVE BACKED-OFF A TAD
ON THE QPF COMPARED TO PREVIOUS RUNS...BUT STILL SHOW OUR NORTHERN
HILL COUNTRY (INCLUDING AUSTIN) WITH THE BEST CHANCE FOR PRECIP
TONIGHT. THE SPC HAS INCLUDED US IN THE SLIGHT RISK AREA OF BOTH
THE DAY1 AND DAY2 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOKS. THIS FITS WELL WITH THE
OVERALL SYNOPTIC PATTERN AND SEASONAL CLIMATOLOGY OF SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS FOR OUR AREA. WITH PWATS IN THE 1.5 TO 2.0 INCH
RANGE...HAVE INCLUDED A MENTION OF "LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL"
...THINKING 1-3 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY OVER THE NORTHERN
HILL COUNTRY.

the sun's definitely a part of the weather down here and you're moving here, so it's definitely on-topic. My son has a black 3 and, well, I'll never buy another black car. It's not because of the sun though, it's just a pain and he took awful care of it.. their a/c unit has a really hard time with the temps down here. I used to have a yellow 2004 3 and I always had to crank the a/c all the way up in the summer and that was with the most darkest tint I could legally have. I brought it to the dealership because I thought it was defective, but they told me that's how Japanese a/c units are. The American ones are the ones that will freeze you and I think that is true..
so what is the honest chance of rain Anthony? like your gut feeling.. I'm totally a pessimist when it comes to rain anymore..
