Unless we get more development northward, which appears to be happening now, we won't see much of anything here in town.

The severe weather threat will progressively diminish as the storms are going more linear. We may see some small hail, gusty winds out of these cells, but no more tornadoes.

Beyond this, things are looking dry for a while. Cool air will settle in for the next couple of days before a ridge sits up to our NW. Once that happens we'll have strong downsloping winds off the Sierra Madre and Rocky Mountains allowing the air to compress and heat up in a hurry.

I will not be surprised if we get triple digit heat next week.

I wouldn't call it pessimistic, I just see very little indication that points to rainfall here in San Antonio over the next several days.

I can see lightning off to the west and the humidity is coming up. The radar makes it look like it has to rain. no complaints here

These are dumping some nice rains -- moderate to heavy over an 80 mile span. We could see anywhere from 0.50-1.50" over a fairly widespread area.

The biggest threat for severe weather will be along and south of a Cotulla to Port Aransas line... and that will be isolated at best.

Enjoy the overnight rain

Prepare for a writeup on what's our best chance of rain for the next several days. (For most of you, by the time you read this it already happened).

For reference, please check this radar image:
http://icons.wunderground.com/data/6...dard3_anim.gif

A rather interesting phenomenon unfolded tonight across portions of South Central Texas, and as a result, several forecasts busted. It all started earlier this evening with a supercell thunderstorm producing a tornado in Maverick County near Eagle Pass ran into a line of storms that developed off the mountains of Northern Mexico.

Shortly after that happened, a center of circulation formed on the northern end of this complex of storms you see travelling off east of Laredo. This is called a Mesoscale Convective Complex, which is simply a cluster of storms that survives off it's own lift and essentially becoming it's own weather system. This is feeding off of moisture off the Gulf of Mexico and moving to the East at a fairly decent clip. This is also what is allowing for a broad area of showers and thunderstorms producing moderate to heavy rainfall over an 80 to 100 mile swath of western portions of South Central Texas.

The rain is now entering Bexar County and will continue over the next few hours producing some moderate to heavy showers, cloud-to-ground and cloud-to-cloud lightning. No severe weather is expected in our area. However, further south along a Cotulla to Victoria line I suspect that along the main bowing segment (the crescent shaped area of red), will generate brief severe gusts as determined by previous storm reports tonight and the Storm Prediction Center and could spin up a brief funnel cloud, or very small tornado.

Rainfall totals here in Bexar County should range anywhere from 0.5-1.5" over a fairly widespread area throughout the next few hours.

After this round of rain, I suspect that we may see a couple of storms going into early Friday and then things will begin to clear out as the low moves further away from South-Central Texas.

no complaints here about the rain and it looks like more storms are forming in Mexico. I like this..
