I did get fried at Fiesta TX - with sunblock. My kids fared well though, I was more vigilant with them I guess. Ugh. I'm headed to Utah on Monday - some relief.
It is weird though, in Washington my parents are having below normal temps, some mornings actually getting near freezing. It's actually a good thing we are going there later this summer because my mom says their lake is freezing, not even warm enough to swim in yet. Let's send some heat their way, and vice versa!

It's true... I left record cold in the Puget Sound area. Summer got here in early May but didn't stick around. The mountains still probably freeze some nights.

I am taking this moment to be thankful. I have an electrical outlet out in the living room, which provided a/c to that room and my bedroom (next room over, with open doorway).... so when the outlet went out I was worried, and having no money to fix it, REALLY worried.
All I'm using is a window a/c in the kitchen. Thank goodness for an open floorplan. It has remained comfortable, only getting a little warm in the 2 to 4 pm timeslot but nothing unbearable. Whew! I am so glad that the kitchen a/c is doing a great job!

not trying to be funny, but did you check the breakers?
and if it's simply an outlet, they're only a couple bucks and super easy to replace. just make double triple sure you kill the power and unscrew it, check which way the wires go, and go in reverse with the new one. Major hard part is bending the copper back around the posts/screws.

rd2007:
yeah, we checked the breakers. When this all started, it was as if a breaker tripped. Everything went out in that room and this one. So we of course went to "flip" it or whatever and it immediately tripped again and did this every time we re-set it. So we replaced the breaker itself thinking it was just bad, and it does the same thing. We were talking about replacing the outlet but were gathering up the courage. The power is out in that room and the room next to it but the overhead lights and fans work fine. We need to map out the circuits or so I've been told to figure out exactly what's on what circuit. It confuses me, all of it!

when I'm in doubt I got out to the main breakers and kill pretty much the entire house. I'm sure that's not the way you're supposed to do it, but at least I know there's absolutely no way I'm going to get shocked. I've had more than enough experience screwing up with electricity to not be over cautious.
but changing out the actual outlet is very easy. There's just three wires and they each form a hook which goes around the post, which you loosent to remove the old one and tighten to attach the new one.
