Yeah, we saw that yesterday at the Indiana Jones movie........which was great! We didn't go into it expect an Oscar nominee, and it's not, but it was still a great movie, and a nice setup to the "new" Indy series! Yeah Shia Lebouf!!

Still can not wait for Hancock!! Woot!! That looks hysterical!

Well, I don't entirely agree with that...
I have forwarded my resume, via fax, via email, via snail mail, to nearly every insurance carrier in San Antonio, SEVERAL in Austin, and more than a handful in the Dallas area....
When I DO get an interview, the interviewer is often NEARLY young enough to be my grandchild... well, actually in between child and grandchild.....
AND I cannot learn why I don't get the jobs... but I am truly convinced it is age for these reasons:::;

1.) no one wants to supervise their Mom or Grandmother - no one
2.) EVEN THOUGH I am negotiable on salary and state so, they ALWAYS say "We can't pay you what you are accustomed to earning." To which I say, "And here in San Antonio, I will not necessarily need what I'm accustomed to earning." or something to that effect....
3.) Just a guess, but I think most of these younger managers don't want to hire someone that knows more than them... In fact, it's not just a guess; when I was still working, they avoided, in every fashion they could, to discuss a claim with me......
4.) I've moved around too much over the last 15 years; even though I have reasonable explanations for that, it doesn't look good....

I went to the TX unemployment office for a 'counseling session'; she was supposed to review my resume and a list of items I'd checked off for them (their form) and then discuss with me and present tips and possibly even job leads..... This young woman (I'm guessing 20 years or more my junior) kept looking at her watch and gave me not a single possible solution, not a single new strategy, not a single GUESS at why I'm having trouble.......

So, okay, next week, I am going BACK to Dollar General and Family Dollar yet again...
I don't even care anymore what I do... I just want to work and I surely would like to have some insurance before this aching tooth falls out and leaves me with a huge gap when I smile..... ($ General and Family $ didnt even call me for an interview in the past, btw....)
I went to the unemployment office, actually for help with my resume... do I dummy it down? spiff it up??? I am clueless......
and yes, I have this Independent Contractor gig..... one has dried up entirely, another is slim to nothing lately, and the third... ahhhh, I'm not really sure what's going on with that... no assignments for nearly two weeks.... I have my thoughts - I don't think it has anything to do with me; I think it has to do with the whole PROGRAM of using Independents - but won't get real detailed here.. who knows who might be listening, eh???

So, yes, young able-bodied, halfway (or more) bright, should be able to find a job.... Grandma ???? not so sure....

oh and BTW... my brother called this afternoon, not sure the full purpose of calling, his cell failed twice and he was in his car..... but he described all his retirement plans and all the paperwork he's completed to get things rolling.... DIRTY DAWG!!! LOL

while we're ranting... to the "lady" practicing for Indy in her ford ranger in front of the Potranco HEB+.. those white lines are for pedestrians to walk on and if you hit us you will go to jail.. you do not need to literally drive at least 30 MPH directly in front of the main entrance and having to hit your brakes so hard that you can hear the tires screech means you are going WAY too fast.. and when I stick out my arm at you I'm saying slow down you stupid #*$#@ and you really shouldn't give me the evil eye. I could kill you with my bare hands faster than it would take you to figure out you've suddenly been yanked out of your little truck. that was unfreakingbelievable..

Was she on a cell phone?
*pulls up soapbox*
I've made a point recently to point out to my son when another driver does something stupid - and most times they are on the phone. Except for stretches of Hwy 90 and 1604 where I live, I avoid talking on my cell while driving and never do it with my son in the car. You know, examples and all that...
*steps off soapbox*

nope, no cell phone excuse for her. she was just driving WAY too fast and not paying attention at all. She was going so fast that I stepped out when it was clear and she came whipping around the curve. She literally had to slam on her brakes and we were getting ready to jump. Total and complete idiot, with no excuse except for she's an awful driver that needs a bus pass.

Maybe it was Danica still Pi$$ed off about the race she lost today. They said security had to stop her from ripping some guy's head off. Well, she was headed that way, anyway.

PGR--have you tried getting on at USAA in the call center--I think you have to do 18 months in that capacity and then you can transfer out. You can't say anything bad about their bennies, that's for sure. I know phone work sucks, but some people really enjoy it and are good at it. And 18 months is really not that long, and with your insurance background, you seem like a good fit for them.

I would say that sounds like my GF except that she doesn't drive a Ranger and it wasn't in front of a WalMart, she wasn't doing 40 and you didn't kick in her passenger-side door (snicker). My GF still hasn't learned her lesson.

HEB+
I don't do the mart

someone actually kicked in the side of the door? this lady would've deserved that for sure and if she wouldn't have slammed on her brakes something would've hit something...
