Is it me or are people nowadays really thin-skinned? I express an opinion on a forum that claims that everyone is entitled to one and it's construed as a personal attack.

All I can say is wah...wah...wah...get over it. It's the INTERNET!!!

I don't have many bad dreams, but when I do, they usually involve elevators. I'm not so scared I won't get on one, because dying of a heart attack while going up 20 flights of stairs doesn't sound good either. But there's no way I would ever even consider getting on one to the moon. There is not enough crack in the universe for me to smoke to get me to the point of agreeing to that. Good thing there are braver people than I.

Default Stevens HS enrollment question from mamatotex97

mamatotex97 - regarding your question about Stevens enrollment;

It's huge!! I haven't checked in awhile, but it was somewhere around 4000 students in the school, if I remember correctly. Have you seen the portables ("affectionately" know as the concentration camp by the students) in the back. That school is ginormus on it's own but then there's a zillion portables as well. When the 2007 Bond was getting voted on, I read somewhere that they estimated that Stevens would have the highest enrollment of any HS in NISD in a very short time (it was something like by 2008 or 2009) and it was going to be something over 5000. I've since not been able to find that info. Although there are some very good teachers there, I'm really not impressed with it. I'm actually hoping that we get zoned for the new school (in the Alamo Ranch area), but not holding my breath (we live in the Oak Creek sub that is north of Military). Figuring that 1604 will be the boundary line. Anyway, yep, it's huge with huge enrollment.

Luna, on the other hand, is much better. I have 2 kids that go there, and they really like it. Some excellent teachers, and for the most part the kids are pretty darned good.

That's good to hear about Luna. We are in 5th currently and though slotted for OTT due to overcrowding attend Galm. They have the portables as well. I hate those!

Stevens looks huge. I grew up in Plano, a suburb of Dallas and our high school only had two grades, 11th and 12th and that alone had over 3,000 kids. So I'm used to it however I still feel it will swallow my child whole! Surely with all the continuing construction another high school is in the works!

Yep, the new high school (Alamo Ranch area) is scheduled to open 2010. That was the one that was part of of Bond 2007. Check out the NISD website for tons of info.

And even tho Galm is older and has portables, it's rated "recognized", whereas Ott is only rated "acceptable", soooooo...????? Not such a shabby switch, I'd say!

Default Get off the pc and out of the house!

It is a gorgeous day outside. And yet, I'm feeling quite lazy and at a loss for anything to really get me out into the sunshine...
Any suggestions? What are YOU doing today?
