ha ha, no, this is the OT, so as long as it doesn't break the TOS anything goes. That's just my opinion and that was a nice story that brings up a good conundrum. It would be nice if everything was like that, but everyone knows that's, unfortunately, not the case. The price we pay for being so "civilized"..

I noticed there is a laundrymat thread. Which brings up a story. I lived in St. Louis area for 7 years. Whenever I referred to a laundrymat as a washateria everyone looked at me as if I were strange. When I was growing up everyone referred to them as washaterias but later laundrymat became the norm. I still occasionally see Washateria used today in different parts of Texas.

When I was real young my mother use to take me to this washateria on S. Presa. It had a dirt floor and there were ringers & washboards in use. I'm really dating myself!

Well, and now you remind ME of a 'washateria/laundrymat' story
When I was backpacking through Europe in the 'ummm, 'uh, those earlier years of my life (think hippies, backpacking, Vondell Park in Amsterdam, et al.... hashish chunks the size of elephant poo...etc etc).....
I had to wash my only pair of jeans and found a laundromat in France. I acquired the requisite change, francs (this was waaaaaay before the Euro), and I dumped ALL my clothes into the machine, loaded it up with coins, pushed 'start' or, pardon 'mois, pushed 'début', and sat over by a window reading a time-worn American magazine.

Much to my chagrin, ESPECIALLY since this was the ONLY pair of jeans I had with me, I had inadvertently tousled the entire load of laundry in a DRYER, with, apparently an EXTRA-high HEAT setting.

This was a particularly distressing event, since I had camped out in a cornfield in Pisa, Italy and had gotten
some, ummm, cow-s-h-i-t in the hem of my jeans, which - again - I remind you - was my ONLY pair of jeans.
Ahhhhhh, the hippie back-packing days.... yes, yes....
Did I mention this was the ONLY pair of jeans I had with me? yes, yes....
