He can't stay here for a while? I work with mostly AF peeps and most of them were here for a long time. I was in the Navy and we could even stay here for at least two tours. Where does he work? he might work a couple doors down from me

He works at Wilford Hall. Nope, not likely he is going to stick around. He WILL be moved after he's done in 2.5 yrs. Most likely he will be moved, then deployed right away because of his job. Major bummer. It will suck without him here, we haven't gone through a deployment in the 6 yrs he's been in!

well... consider yourself lucky there.. My first assignment was to an aircraft carrier, which was fortunately in drydock when I arrived. I enjoyed almost two years of doing pretty much nothing and then suffered through a LOT of sea time.. most of it was stupid training off the VaCapes (Virginia Capes) and getting ready for GTMO (how you actually spell Gitmo/Guantanamo Bay if you're in the Navy), which is where most of the qualifying and crew training for the ship took place. Back then it was just a Navy base and very few people knew about it.
I spent the rest of the time going between sea and shore duty and ended up going pretty much everywhere and learning there's no place like the USA. Nothing else even comes close

Seattle is really beautiful and VERY expensive. An average home costs about $400,000. We found it really hard not being able to afford a home there.... I really loved the "vibe", though....and all the different, eclectic shops etc.
Mojo....Keep in mind you visited in the SUMMER - it's different when it's raining. Still beautiful, mind you, but COLD in a way you can't imagine (and I'm CANADIAN!!!) I was so sure I would love it after we visted in the spring, but I found the winters really rough. We used to get these crazy power outages for 12 hours or more and be shivering in front of the gas fireplace with our wee baby. I don't think I'll ever forgive the Pacific Northwest for THAT! haha!
So glad to have you back. Now, the big question is - will you be able to make it to Olive Garden tomorrow night????

They have always done that. You had to make sure you were not headed into the city limits before you bought your stuff. They always show someone buying $$$$ worth and getting busted . They are just making a bigger deal of it this year. Hope it works and everyone stays safe ( including my house!!)
last I heard they were only allowed to be open for 10 days total. Should have opened today?? If they were going to open you would see them with all the boxes out front. I wonder about the big warehouse on Potranco.
My brother worked one of those stands one year. He said never again!!

It's funny, everyone keeps saying, "the summers are nice, but think about the rain". Here's the deal, I'll let you in on my little secret. I'm one of those freakish people who LOVE rainy weather. Everyday when it's sunny here, I litterally go outside and say "uggghh...more sun???" HAHA! Hubby really makes fun of me when i have my sunglasses on and I'm like "BLAST THIS SUNSHINE!". HAHA..I have to laugh at myself. I always thought I'd be perfect in the NW or London, or other rainy overcast places. I'm from the north and I would have to disagree with you about the coldness. I'm from the Cleveland area...HATE the snow. Plus, I've heard Cleveland is actually more overcast than the Seattle area! Believe it or not! So, as long as it's rainy, but not much snow...I'll take it! Oh, hate the heat too...so I think I'd do fine in Seattle. It was about 60-70 everyday and it was heavenly! Seems like my dream place. Water, mountains, evergreen trees, mild weather...I'm in love. *sigh*
OK, did not hear anything about Olive Garden...what's that about?

I'm not a big fan of the sun either.. When I was in Monterey we had to have our class break during the summer because of the June Gloom. They said people actually got suicidal because of the lack of sun, but I loved it.. anywhere that's cold and foggy in July and August is paradise for me..
BTW, free tacos tomorrow: Jack In The Box

Some of us CD'ers are meeting at Olive Garden @ Ingram park mall tomorrow for dinner at 5:30pm. I know Jules, Paka, Pops, and I have confirmed yes so far....(I hope I didn't forget anyone....)
I'm bringing the girls with me and DH will likely pick them up on his way home from work (if it's not too late) to get them home and to bed at the reg. time.....
And, yes, by your description of yourself -Seattle would be PERFECT for you! I really miss the summers theres - especially since we lived in the San Juan Islands and were two blocks from the water.......but that darn rain and wind killed my buzz.....
