Dang SATX that is really something something!

This board is actually the board I have the highest post count, and that makes me look really pathetic since i've been here since 2006.

just find us some rain and you'll be everyone's hero no matter how low your post count

however, I would appreciate the rain after 2:30 PM tomorrow since I just washed my truck Friday.

We had to put our dog, Roxy to sleep today. She was 14 years old. My 11 yo son is devasted, we all are. Is it wrong to let him stay home from school tomorrow and just grieve?

I'm dreading the day when I have to face this with my chow.
I think it's a personal decision. However, he is going to have to learn to accept very bad things and move on. I know it's hard, but we all have to do it.

That's one of the things we were talking about, how to move on. He's learned this last year when my dad passed away. So unfortunately this isn't new to him. At the same time I want him to know it's ok to just be sad/cry and take a time out.

I would say... if he doesn't miss a lot of time from school, let him stay home if he wants to. He may want to go so he can stay occupied. Let him set the pace.

I think that's fair, as long as a boundary has been set. I have only had to deal with one animal death so far in my life. I think several of my other dogs when I was a child probably died instead of running away, though.. My cat died a couple years ago and it hurt really bad, even though I didn't care much for him. They are a part of us and losing them definitel removes a part of us. That's why I always want to punch people that call them "just animals".

I told him tomorrow we would work on making a picture book of just Roxy over the years.
I agree, they are not just animals. Our pets are family. The puppy kept running around the house looking for her when we got home.
