What's up with the convenience store at the corner of 281 and Stone Oak? It looks like it never opened at all. I heard somewhere it was condemned, is that the case? If so, what was the problem with it?

It was bought out when the toll roads were initially going to be built several years ago. The toll road plan was then put on hold do to "environmental" concerns.

I'm surprised there aren't two Taco stands in the parking lot.

The convenience store at 281/Stone Oak used to be a gas station years ago. It has been closed long before the toll road mess. As for the DQ at Borgfeld? It was open as recently as 6 weeks ago. I stopped there on my way back from Johnson City. I doubt that closing has anything to do with the toll roads.

I thought so too until the shell and the cowboy cleaners closed as well. There was signs on all the doors so that might explain what happened. I remember when the exxon at stone oak closed the pumps had signs on them that said "txdot stole our pumps" or something to that effect.

Yeah. It closed due to the toll lanes. They decided to use the ROW on the west side of 281 which is why it closed.

Nice to know why.

That convenience store is now a mattress store. On another corner is Olive Garden, the next corner is the target center. But what are they building on the open corner at 281 and stone oak/TPC?

How lame is it that they put a mattress store there... That intersection is prime real estate for some type of convenience store or at least more restaurants... not a mattress store.

As for the other side of 281, they are building a Golden Chick.
