So I just graduated with my Bachelors in Music Therapy and I'm searching for jobs in San Antonio and I'm finding very limited information. I've been on the AMTA website, but other than that I've been running into dead ends. I was wondering if the schools have MT in their programs already or if there is a state/private run company that already has a monopoly in the area? Also, are any of these companies hiring?

I have a friend who is a music therapist for the Northeast ISD. She told me that you have to apply at school districts and private school that use music therapists. She is the only one at Northeast ISD. I know a few hospitals also use music therapists. You may want to see if they are hiring any. I hope this helps some.

Oh my goodness, one of my ex's attended Cal State University at Long Beach to become a music therapist!
The only other option out there for this then-very-new-little-known-discipline was a private university in Northern California - a very expensive and elitist private university.
I don't know if he ever finished, but I'm guessing not. He moved to Japan to teach English.

There I go again, giving age clues away again.....

I have a friend who is a music therapist and has been for many years. She has a private practice now but I think she started out working for the state mental hospital right out of college.

Thanks that helps. I know there is a job opening at the mental hospital, but most of my experience is with children, especially sensory integration. I'm surprised so many people responded to this!

I'm a music therapist here in SA. There are jobs that pop up, I applied for one in a school district (Northside ISD) last year. Check with the school districts around here...and the hospitals, of course.
