Don't mean do stirr up racial tensions, but literally hours before my offer for a home in the Amberwood subdivision was accepted yesterday, a MexAmer friend of mine who recently relocated from that area, told me it's not generally well recieved for caucasions to move into a prodominantly MexAmer neighborhood in SA. That would be the case here.
PLEASE, this is not the time to pull punches. If anyone has any experience or can tell me more about this, please let me know. I have a two and a four-year-old daughter and I don't want racial slurrs thrown at them.

Only if you go in thinking of them as Mexican and you as white and treating people worse because of it. We're all Americans and most will be respectful and friendly if you are.

I put the offer in feeling pretty confident we would be at least close to the only white people in the neighborhood. I have zero problem living in that neighborhood as long as my family will feel safe. Seemed safe at the time.

Just drive through the neighborhood at night once or twice before your option period runs out. That's the time you'll find out the most about the neighborhood. If you feel unsafe, you can back out and only lose your option money.

Sorry, but, your friend is full of crap. As a Latina, I can tell you that no one will think twice because you're caucasian. The only time that will ever be an issue is, as kevcrawford stated, if you carry yourself with a superior attitude. But, honestly, it would be the attitude more than the skin color. Trust me, plenty of chicanos walk around with a superior attitude and that isn't well-received, either!

I agree 100%. I'm not Latina, but I don't think it matters. Latinos, generally speaking, are incredibly family friendly and family oriented.

Most of SA is made up of mostly hispanic/mexican along with a few whites and blacks mixed in. I can't say I don't notice the race of my neighbors, it's human nature, but I am not turned off by non latin neighbors.I love seeing the kids walking home from school, the groups made up of all races. I am American/Mexican and would love to have you as my neighbor. Is Amberwood the SD located near 1604/90/hunt ln area?
