Especially when it's considered a military city and cities with similar demographics like Corpus Christi where the Hispanic population is generations removed from Latin America vote red?

According to this article one organization called Tech for Campaigns created an army of people with technical skills to help progressive political candidates.

It truly boggles the mind. A Democrat will NEVER get my vote, unless and until one of them stands up and calls the rest of them out on their BS. And that's my opinion, don't care what anyone says.

If you look at city proper then you are right. If you look at metropolitan area then you are wrong.

Beto won both votes which boggles the mind considering Abbott won the metropolitan area.

How can a voter can vote for Abbott and Beto at the same time? Seems to be a very uniformed person or they were not voting on issues but style. Who knows.

I reckon there aren’t enough big shot country club businessmen in San Antonio to put the Republicans in power here. Savvy working class people vote Democrat because that’s the party that works in their interest. Not enough, not as much as it used to, but the Republicans are hostile to working class interests.

I assume most Mexican-Americans are aware the GOP courts those who dislike them as Blacks are aware the GOP courts racists.

And the white collar middle class, those strivers after status and conventional respectability, are put off by the low brow bumpkins, conspiracy believing screwballs and outright racists the GOP courts—many don’t want to be associated with such people. And many women are put off by the GOP, its leader and the whole schmear.

I understand professional soldiers voting Republican because they believe in hierarchies and preserving and strengthening existing hierarchies is a core purpose of the Republican party.

There aren't that many active-duty military in San Antonio any more. Not enough to affect election returns. Also, Trump is going out of his way to alienate the military. Not visiting the WWI cemetery in France because of a little rain? Not going to win over the armed forces.

San Antonio is getting an increasing number of educated professionals associated with the medical center, cybersecurity, biomedical research, etc. They tend to vote blue. This trend will continue.

"Big shot businessmen?" They're voting blue, or at least their wives are. Look at Houston and Dallas.

Or maybe a lot of conservatives can't stand Ted Cruz? Or they were sending a message to Trump?

Maybe, but a conservative would not vote for Beto they would abstain like have been doing every election since Dan Patrick was on the ballot. I’m not gonna vote for someone who stand for opposite values.
