Park North? Not familiar with the area...That would be great though if IKEA came to San Antonio, great Scandinavian modernist look at very affordable prices. I have friends who bought a 1950's mid-century-modern home, they replaced their kitchen (which had been badly "re-muddled" in the 80's) with an IKEA design, it looked great, matched the style perfectly, and was really low cost as opposed to other manufacturers with very similar styles. Great store, and really BIG...Now see, this was what I was talking about on another post, one good thing about all the new transplants is the new spending power, which lures stores like IKEA here. Although I'm generally not a fan of big-box chain stores, for IKEA I can bend. It's a start in any case.

Park North is what used to be Central Park Mall. A local developer has big plans for the property, which I have never seen, just heard about.

Please tell me you are correct. I love IKEA. There are 4 IKEAs in my area with a 5th one opening in Brooklyn in 2-3 years. I will be relocating from NYC to SA and would hate to drive to Houston everytime I wanted my IKEA fix. Yes folks it's addictive.

Well, the one outside Austin (in Round Rock) is confirmed, so at least you only have to drive an hour if it doesn't pan out in San antonio - fingers crossed that it does.

I hope that the newer IKEAS have a better layout & better customer service than what I have seen at the IKEA's on Long Island and in Elizabeth. Not only are half the products (and important parts to many items) out of stock but it has got to be the most aggravating, claustrophobic feeling, annoying shopping experience. I then realized that the Target next to the Ikea has almost similar products and doesn't charge $100 for Delivery.

True. Have you been to Paramus? I think it's better there.

I'd love to know about IKEA opening here too! The one in Roundrock is open now BTW!

Anyone know about Sam Moon's? They were supposed to open a store in 2005 by Rolling Oaks Mall.....but nothing yet!
