If you walk in front of the San Fernando Cathedral, and down to the Riverwalk you will notice a small picnic area which has several quotes in bronze plaques. They were gifted during the Cisneros's tenture, and they were each dedicated to stories, poems, and philosophers from Mexico on the subject of immigration.

Catholic Charities "Legal Aid" was also established under his second term with the assistance of Joe Bernal, and others with the only qualification being income level. We knew then what was going on. And now you know just how brazen San Antonio's left is.

That was actually quite an interesting read. I remember the Linda Medlar scandal and I always felt sorry for Henry's wife and kids. He fit right in with Slick Willie.

It was a dirty time in SA's history. The local media knew what was going on, but wouldn't break the story until the NY media started talking about it. I knew some of the key media folks during that time, and when I challenged them as to why they sat on it, they said it was "personal" and not really in the public realm. I pointed out to them that 1) The mayor's bodyguard was being utilized as a "lookout", and that he was using his position with the city to get hotel rooms comped for their trysts. Most of the city never realized just how dirty HC was - not just with his private life, either.

And you're right - the ones to feel sorry for was Mary Alice and their kids - they didn't deserve all that. And Linda ended up getting the short end of the stick, as well - she believed Henry when he said he'd get a divorce and marry her, so she let her ex have everything in her divorce settlement, and ended up with nothing. I can't really feel sorry for her, though - she certainly didn't care who she was hurting.

In the mid 1980's remember the MDMA ban of 1985 had not yet kicked in. Cisneros was using Molly on the whores. It was not uncommon in San Antonio at the time and the entire underground knew how to use it. Some of the kids I grew up around got ADHD diagnosis so they could bring Amphetamine in the home via prescription that the family would grind and use as base for Molly.

Twisted... sick... and wrong. But those who saw anything on all that were marginalized.

So what? If Molly was legal then, that itself is not any more scandalous and/or wrong compared to other legal drugs.
