We don't have HEB or Central Market here (Phoenix), but we do have a small local chain that is very similar. That's about what I'd expect to pay at AJ's for the same thing. A grocery has a larger overhead cost than a fast food drive thru chain, hence the higher price to the consumer. Basic business 101.

Come up to Austin's CM. It's big, busy and def has cash registers and people there to help you. I was just there this afternoon meeting friends and it was super busy, lots of kids (they have a playground) and had lots to choose from. I didn't check prices, because I wasn't hungry, but it seemed decent. Here is the menu. Menus for Central Market Cafe - Austin - SinglePlatform. Here is the SA menu for comparison. https://www.allmenus.com/tx/san-anto...ket-cafe/menu/ Are you adding lots of things? That could be it.

Where is Central Market located? I've only found HEB, Target, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Sprouts.

The Austin CM (at least the Lamar location) is fabulous. I used to shop there when I lived in Austin. It's a much more social, kid-oriented location with big outdoor decks, playground, live music, etc. The SA CM, in contrast, is smaller with little outdoor space and is located in a stuffier part of town with lots of senior shoppers, so not much emphasis on families/kids. But it's still plenty busy, especially on weekends.

I haven't looked at the Cafe menu in a long time, but I don't remember it being anywhere near as broad and ambitious as the one posted on allmenus. I'm sure I would have noticed steak frites. Will get a picture next time I'm there.

https://centralmarket.com/

Central Market is owned and operated by HEB. They are smaller stores with more high-end and speciality groceries. Not the place to go if you're looking for a giant super-store.

I was just there today. I got a drink, but that was it. I was with friends with kids and have worked out at the park. i haven't been to the CM on Broadway in ages to compare. But, menu wise, it looks likey're about the same, price wise.

It's on Broadway right near Incarnate Word.

SA's CM is in a converted HEB. I would wait until the post office tenant moves out and see the improvement. It is space limited.

I heard that was going to happen. Any idea what the timeline is?

Live music and a play ground that caters toward young families, sounds more like a family friendly brewery, the Cove or another or an Ice House as SA knows them as.
