Default Driving from Stone Oak to Seguin

Does anyone know the best route if you were to drive directly from Stone Oak (far north San Antonio) to Seguin? I've never done it before, but looking at maps of the San Antonio/Seguin area has always piqued my interest. There are 2 possibilities that I see:

1. 1604 to Pat Booker, then to a highway that passes through Cibolo and leads to Seguin. It looks like the shortest route. But there are possibly many stoplights. I've never driven it.

2. 1604 to I10, and I10 also leads to Seguin. But the last part of 1604 doesn't appear to be as developed, and there may be lots of stoplights there too. I've never driven on that part of 1604 either.

I would be tempted to just drive by way of New Braunfels. It adds a few miles, but it seems like a more interesting route (you get to see New Braunfels for one thing).

I live in Seguin and drive to San Antonio. You're best bet is your 1st chice. 1604 to I-10, I-10 to Seguin. It's not a bad drive. The alternate route is 1604 to 35. 35 to hwy 46 and 46 to Seguin.

Thanks. I had considered the 46 route also. But the last time I took that from New Braunfels I got carsick. I can't take those winding highways.

Another alternative...a little more scenic, will probably take you longer, but its still not bad:

Evans Rd to I-35N access, turn right on 1518, left on 78, then on to Seguin.

hi, the I-10 route is the fastest...according to my GPS. I've gone that way a few times. If you can, take some of the backroads especially in the Kingsbury area.

You just have to ignore the slums on the left side of FM 78 when you get past RAFB! But the farms and small towns are nice to see.

Whatever you do, don't ever get talked into going to Lago Vista.

You go straight up 281 and bang a right on 1431. 1431 is similar to the Rattler.

I'm sure there's another route in, but that is the fun way.

You should take I35 to 46 is is more developed and more scenic. I10 i also a nice drive.

78 is nice you see a lot of little towns but it is a lot of lights and it is a lot slower.

Oh yeah. That sounds like "fun."

The last time I was in Seguin I actually came back through New Braunfels (then turned left to SA). I remember thinking, Dude! This is great! Why haven't I always gone this way? I just get tired of the empty space of I10.
