The city council had the opportunity to do the right thing. I guess I overestimated them.

Because they didn’t do anything wrong. Seriously, you people need to get over this. Your lives will be short if you get worked up over trivial thinks like this. Seriously.

Maybe they didn't do anything 'wrong'... but they sure as hell did something stupid. And then doubled down despite being called out in the national media.

It was only stupid if you disagreed with it. You understand that, right?

On what grounds? Did the city not allow Chick-fil-A to build in San Antonio? Did the city place a hardship on the restaurant by saying they must be a certain distance from a school or church (like bars)?

The city extends contracts every week. There are always winners and losers.

The frustrating thing is that people are so "one issue" these days, and if their representative doesn't vote the exact way they want on a singular trivial matter... "vote 'em out!" Even if I disagreed with my councilperson's vote, it is just one decision out of many decisions that they have made - I weigh the overall body of work and the substance of their ideas.

No, it was stupid. This was basically the exact same thing a the stupid bathroom bill. It is causing a political circus and unneeded negativity in search of a problem that did not exist.

And no one cares how "you" vote.
