Default any advice on pruning boxwoods???

hello all --- as i said before dh and will be putting our house on the market on/around the 22nd of this month --- we have some really nice boxwoods in the front of the house but they do need to be cut back --- we are hesitant to cut them because everytime we do they ends get brown for a while until the new growth starts to grow in...

does anyone know of something we can do to prevent the browning of the limbs after they are cut??? --- maybe some sort of spray or something???

thanks!!!

Do you use a electric hedge trimmer...we do and don't have an issue with it.

Right now would be a great time to prune anything...it is all blooming so fast, I would suggest trimming and watering right afterwards...it should have new greenery budding within a week!

Good luck!

How far back are you cutting them? I trim mine with an electric trimmer and they are fine. That's usually 2 or 3 inches. If you are really cutting them back the branches will show new growth within a week and probably be filled out within 2 weeks. When you cut branches and leave the bare sticks, the sticks will have the light they need to start new growth. Make sure to water them generously after you cut them

yes, we do use electric trimmers --- but we do tend to cut them back quite a bit and we also don't water them asap after cutting ---

thanks for your responses...
