If it includes funding for the border, sure.

It's an interesting combination of principles being applied by TX21 Rep. Roy. While border security is a concern of the current administration , the administration cares less than not at all about deficit spending. A new book that's coming out soon reveals that Paul Ryan had a conversation with the incoming President about the importance he placed on controlling the deficit. The book says the President responded with "That's just stupid," or words to that effect. Since the deficit has done nothing but go up in the current administration, it would seem that San Antonio Congressman Chip Roy is fighting for a principle that is no longer supported by his party!

Exactly. Republicans are fine with deficit spending when they’re in power, but it becomes an existential crisis when they’re not.

Wow. You are being intellectually dishonest at best.

Do platitudes and talking points get you through real life?

Hurd's district is the only Congressional district in the state that has a nearly equal number of Democrats and Republicans. That means its outcomes will tend to be influenced by whatever wave is happening in the other elections on the ballot at that time. There will be a lot of motivated voters on both sides in 2020. If the general election race is between Hurd and Jones, I wouldn't be surprised to see either candidate win.
That is why he is voting like a Democrat lately.

its a true point. Republicans really cannot make any claims for fiscal responsibility after really 2001.

Neither party can have a rightful claim to it.

But the irony is that you can make a fun argument that Democrats have shockeningly been more fiscally responsible than Republicans, though how much that has had to do with Republicans being able to check Democrats is a fun variable.

Hurd is out , Praise God. I just got off the phone with his office again. I moved to Texas to get away from politicians like Hurd and end up in the district of a Republican that you can usually count on being one of the few that voted against his party and President. I have never been so excited to vote to replace a politician as I m to Vote for Tony Gonzales.

An exactitude. "The deficit has done nothing but go up." There is little doubt about this and who is at the helm? It is government by controversy, say and do, anything.
I see what you mean Bo, Rep.Roy has to appeal to wide a wide range of citizenry. An interesting set of principles indeed, are needed.
