The carpenter ants have re-discovered our home....it's time to call in the big guns. Does anyone have a recommendation?

And while I'm asking for recommendations, we also need to find someone who will pick up construction debris - mainly roofing material and concrete pieces. We don't want to hire a dumpster (did that when we first started on this house), as it's a small amount, but we also don't want to carry it anywhere ourselves (not having a truck it'd be about 5 trips and a PITA). Is there anyone who will come by, load it up and dispose of it properly for a fee? How does one search for such a person?

We have used Moderator cut: contact name for about 7 years. They come out quarterly and spray inside and out. If you just need a one-time shot for the carpenter ants I'm sure they can do that. Moderator cut: contact #.

I use Moderator cut: contact name for extermination services. I like them better than the service I was using before, because I believe their IPM approach is better than the service I was using before, which seemed to just throw a bunch of chemicals at the problem.

Thanks all! I found an exterminator for our ants. Let's hope it works.

bornandraised - I tried calling your junk guy but it was a fax number.

Chaka, I don't know if it's too late, but I used to have a problem with Pharoah ants (I think they're also mistakenly called carpenter ants).

I used a product called Terro to get rid of them. It comes in a small bottle, and is of a gel-like consistancy. You put a few drops on some cardboard squares (supplied with the product), place them where you've seen the ants, and in a few days, poof!..the ants are gone. That's how things went at my place anyway. I had a lot of those critters too.

Anyway, good luck...

They're all over the place. Inside the house I've mainly seen them in the kitchen (our siding is all wood, as are our cabinets). But DH says he's seen them everywhere, including in the eaves and lots of hard to reach places.

Bummer! We'd been lucky so far. Unfortunately we had our doors sitting in our garage for awhile waiting to get stripped. DH took a few in last week and when they dunked them, the carpenter ants came scurrying out of the wood - we hadn't seen them before that. They freaked (not a place you want these ants, tons and tons and tons of wood - doors, windows, trims, etc). The ants didn't die in the solution either. I'm not sure what finally worked, but they were not happy! That's the first time it happened, so we'll have to treat the garage too (which is detached).

Chaka, what does "DH" mean in your post? I've seen that in other posts as well, and I don't know what it mean. Sorry, just curious.
