Employment
I am getting a little frustrated looking for employment.
Any advice from all you informed compadres would be appreciated.
I have stayed at this current job probably too long-over 20 yrs.
We were bought out by a China company and things arent looking well.
Lately, our checks are sometimes 2 weeks late! They just cut hours
from 40 to 30 so my pay is cut. I am looking for a customer service position
hopefully at leat 15 per hr but I cant find one. I know there's 9-12 hr jobs but havent looked at those (yet). I've tried monster, indeed, etc. I live near airport but am willing to go any area. Seaworld area may be tough, though.
Not sure if I should try temp agencies such as appleone, any ideas?

First off, you're smart to start looking when it's starting to look bad instead of waiting until it is bad.. You're off to a good start by networking on here, because networking is where it's at. I unfortunately can't help you in your field, but would highly recommend you try anything but the staffing agency route. Those people seem to take almost half of the income you would earn, or at least that was the case when I was looking for work. It's of course better than nothing, but I would never settle for one of their jobs and would still continue to look for work while working a staffed or temp job.

I work at USAA and they've been hiring for servicing positions. Benefits are good and you'll probably make more money.
I can forward your resume internally if you like. They'll accept it as long as you haven't already applied yet.

I sent resume to Hartford, hadn't heard anything yet. I have tried USAA several times, I think I "failed" the personality test online, so I have to wait 6 more months before applying again. I think that was in October, so may be time to try again. Thanks for suggestions. I will keep trying.

Most of the companies I've worked for don't have a problem with relatives unless they are in the same department, or there is a chance that one will supervise the other. You have to be willing to change departments in order for them to accommodate you.
Good luck!
